Day 1: 29/08/2021 Heraklion-Kissamos-Kythira-Mylopotamos-Neraida Waterfall-Agia Pelagia
Meeting at our office early in the morning and departure for the port of Kastelli Kissamos , free time for coffee. Boarding the ship and arrival in beautiful Kythira around 14:50. Disembarkation from the ship and then via KALAMOS – KATO LIVADI – LIVADI – DOKANA – ARAIOI we will reach MYLOPOTAMO , a green village with running water, following the path (hiking around 20 minutes) we reach the waterfall of Neraida or Fonissa to enjoy nature and the amazing waters. Free time in the village for coffee / food (optional). Then, board the bus and depart for the seaside village of Agia Pelagia where our hotel is located. Arrangement in the rooms. Leisure. Overnight.
Day 2: 30/08/2021 Agia Pelagia-Kapsali-Chytra (optional) -Country-Agia Pelagia
After breakfast, our first visit is the picturesque Kapsali , free time for food and swimming, ( optional visit ) with the boats in Chytra or Egg , two (2) hours tour in the waters of the cave which is located a short distance opposite the port of Kapsali. It has a sea cave on the south side with colors that enchant you outside and inside the seabed. Climbing on the rocky islet you will meet the local flower Sempreviva . Then visit at
Chora , you will have free time for a walk in the alleys of Chora, photos in the castle, in the church of Stavromenos . Return to the hotel. For those of our friends who want, there is an optional evening with live music and food so that we can all have fun together. Overnight.
Day 3: 31/08/2021 Potamos-Monastery of Panagia Myrtidiotissa- Agia Pelagia
After breakfast, we depart from the hotel and start with a first stop on the river. Potamos is the most historic village, since here the most important events of the modern history of the island have taken place, while even today it is considered the political center of the island. This is where the decision of the Island Autonomy was made in 1917, so that Kythira could support Eleftherios Venizelos and the allied forces in the First World War. From Potamos was General Panos Koronaios, a hero of the liberation struggle of Crete in 1886. His bust dominates the village square. Many shops, cafes, restaurants, offices and other services make up the focal point of the River. In Potamos is the pride of Kythera. The Kasimatio Nursing Home built in the 70’s by the Trifyllio Foundation. Take a tour of the river, the historic bridge, built during the British occupation. Also, behind the nursing home you will find the English school that later became known as the Urban School. The River Philharmonic is located at the Cultural Center, on the main road. Free time for coffee and a walk. Boarding the bus and departure for the monastery of Myrtidiotissa , which according to tradition acquired the nickname Myrtidiotissa because it was found by a shepherd in a place full of myrtles. Panagia Myrtidiotissa is the patron saint of Kythera and Pylos. Return to Agia Pelagia. Free time for relaxation, swimming and for an evening walk in Agia Pelagia . Overnight.
Day 4: 01/09/2021 Paleopolis-Avlemona-Port-Kissamos-Heraklion
After breakfast, pack luggage on the bus and depart for Paleopolis . In the area of Paleopolis was the ancient port of Skandia, which was the port of the capital of Kythera. The port sank with the earthquake of 375 AD. Archaeological excavations have been carried out in the area in the past. In Skandia there are ancient tombs which can be visited. Free time for food, swimming, rest and coffee in the neighboring village of Avlemonas with its picturesque shops. Boarding the bus and departure from the port of Kythera around 19:20 for Kastelli Kissamos. Arrival in Kissamos around 23:00 in the evening and departure for Heraklion. Arrival in Heraklion.
